The Lobosok family of YFU Estonia embodies what it means to open a home to the world.
Being a family with five children, over the years, they also welcomed seven exchange students into their everyday life. What began as individual exchange experiences has grown into something much larger: a shared story that continues long after students return to their home countries. Many remain closely connected, returning for visits and staying in touch as part of an extended family across borders.
Host Family of the Month: The Lobosok Family
Over time, their home has become a meeting point of cultures, personalities, and memories. Lively, open, and full of everyday moments, it is a place where difference is not something to navigate, but something that naturally belongs.
Beyond hosting, the Lobosok family is also actively involved as volunteers within the YFU community, offering support wherever it is needed and contributing to the wider mission of cultural exchange. Their commitment extends well beyond their own home, reflecting a deep and consistent dedication to others.
A moment that captures it all
During a regular school day, host mother Nataliya, who works as a teacher, received an unexpected phone call informing her that a bouquet of flowers would soon be delivered to her workplace. Moments later, a courier arrived in the middle of class carrying a large bouquet and a message of gratitude from a student’s family abroad.
Standing in front of her students, the moment became unexpectedly emotional. What started as a normal school day turned into a powerful reminder that exchange connections do not end when the year is over. They continue to grow, return, and deepen over time, often in the most surprising ways.
A family known for being there
Within the YFU Estonia, the Lobosok family is widely recognised for their reliability, openness, and willingness to step in when support is needed. They are often among the first to offer help, whether for hosting, guidance, or simply being present when a student needs stability and care.
Their home reflects this same spirit: a place where young people are welcomed, supported, and treated as part of the family from the very beginning.
Thank you, Lobosok family, for everything you bring to YFU.
