Host Family of the Month: The Outi-Leena Pesonen "Iitu" Family

From welcoming 9 exchange students and 6 au pairs into her home to steering YFU Finland from the board table, Iitu brings both heart and leadership to everything she does — and always shows up when it counts. Iitu was a YFU-exchange student in Texas, USA in 1991-1992. She still keeps in touch with her host family, considering it her other home. Iitu is a very active volunteer in YFU and has been a support-person to several exchange students and their host-families. This experience is a valuable asset on the board for YFU Finland. Her big international family includes students from USA, Slovakia, Germany, Lithuania and Japan. She still keeps in touch with all of the previous exchange students and au pairs and consider them as far-away children of the family. They also come and visit once in a while.
